Shirehampton Colts JFC on cloud nine after sponsorship with local tech company, Chorus

The Shirehampton Colts Under 15 football team have stepped out in new kit thanks to their recent sponsorship from local technology provider, Chorus.

The community football club has over 270 players between 6 and 18 years, providing children across all ages the ability to enjoy football thanks to the dedication of the clubs’ volunteer coaches and committee members. While the club is supported by parent funding, volunteering and fundraising, the cost of training equipment and football kit can easily run into the thousands.

One of the clubs’ coaches, Simon Wright, who has coached the Under 15 team since they were six years old, recently reached out online to seek sponsorship. The U15’s were in their third year of their kit, and with a recent signing of one of their team members to Bristol City, Simon wanted to give the team the kit they deserved.

As soon as I saw Simon’s message I knew that we could help. What Simon and the club do for the community is fantastic.

Charlie Wheeler, Resourcing Officer at Chorus

It’s great to have a company like Chorus support grassroots football. The cost of running a club like ours can run into thousands each season with very little funding available. More local businesses like Chorus are needed to support clubs and teams so I am delighted by the example Chorus have set to others.

After a difficult few weeks losing two of our best players to professional clubs, the kit, tracksuit and jackets have given the boys a real lift. They were absolutely over the moon and looking really professional at games.

Simon Wright, U15s Coach

Supporting local Bristol communities has always been important to us at Chorus and we’re delighted to be able to support the Shirehampton Colts JFC.

Anthony Sherry, Commercial Director at Chorus

My son wears his new match kit, complete with Chorus’s name, with pride and he is very appreciative of their very kind support for his team. The squad has been very successful in previous seasons and I am hopeful that, in their smart and professional-looking new kit, they will have another successful season.

Matthew O’Regan, One of the players’ parents

Since the new kit has arrived, the team has enjoyed a string of successes and most recently making it through to the Avon Youth League Cup semi-finals.
