Key Responsibilities

  • Development and 3rd line support of bespoke websites using tools such as Umbraco CMS and extending through .NET and modern JavaScript frameworks

  • Development and 3rd line support of integrations and complex web application components for our customers

  • Building powerful, re-usable packages to help us build better, more reliable solutions for our customers, faster

  • Helping our customers understand what they really need and what the best technical solution is

  • Getting involved in building pre-sales demos, helping us to sell more effectively and to POC the latest, bleeding edge web technologies

 

Personal Specification

These are the core skills you’d be using, but aptitude always beats a set of skills for us, so don’t be put off if you don’t hit some/lots of these or are coming from another technology stack and are prepared to make the transition.

 

You’ll probably have a Computer Science degree, or a degree in a Mathematics or Engineering degree with proven ambitions as a software developer, but talent wins over experience, if you can prove your talent and ability to produce great quality code that’s what counts.

Core Skills / Technologies which you’ll be using day to day:

  • OO programming (we use C# and ASP .NET MVC / Web API)
  • Knowledge or desire to learn OO principles, such as DRY, SOLID and design patterns
  • Knowledge or desire to learn good test practices, such as BDD / TDD principles
  • Consultative - able to discover what customers really want and guide them to the best solution for their business requirements


Other Skills / Technologies you’ll get exposure to:

  • Umbraco CMS
  • HTML / CSS
  • Modern JavaScript frameworks (we’re using React + Redux)
  • Unit Testing frameworks – e.g. NUnit
  • Mocking frameworks – e.g. RhinoMocks
  • ORMs – e.g. Entity Framework
  • Dependency Injection & frameworks, e.g. Unity
  • Integration knowledge
  • SQL Server and data modelling, understanding of normal forms
  • Nuget, including creating packages for re-use internally
  • CI – e.g. VSTS build & release
  • Typescript, Webpack, NPM (publishing and consuming)
  • Azure technologies, e.g. App Services, Azure SQL
  • Agile methodologies (we’re using SCRUM framework)
